As the coaching industry continues to thrive and evolve, coaches are constantly seeking efficient and effective platforms to share their expertise, deliver content, and engage with their clients.
Passion.io has been a popular choice among coaches, offering a robust platform for creating and selling online courses and coaching programs.
However, it’s essential to explore Passion.io alternative options in 2024 to ensure you’re making the right choice for your coaching business.
In this article, we’ll delve into some of the top Passion.io alternatives that provide similar functionalities, but with their unique features and benefits.
Why an Alternative?
Good question! Before I list some of the reasons, it is good to note that Passion is one of my favorite software for creators.
It has many of the features the average creator needs to build an engaging community – talk about live streaming, the mobile app, push notifications, etc.
However, it isn’t without glitches and shortcomings.
For instance, Passion.io has a poor web page builder for building a landing page for your course and community.
To my best interest, its designs look old-fashioned – but this is only limited to the webpage, not the app.
The app itself, which is what most need, is legendary.
A quick way to bypass this glitch is to use a separate website builder for your landing page. It could be WordPress which is an affordable solution.
So, this might not be enough reason to seek an alternative.
Another shortcoming of Passion.io is that it lacks affiliate management software.
A good percentage of creators use affiliates to promote their offers – so this might be a turn-off for creators with affiliates.
Now, on to the email marketing software. I know that Passion.io allows you to manage your members by sending push notifications via the app. However, it lacks email automation software.
This is a notable miss.
Well, since most creators have their preferred email software, Passion.io might not get the blame for not having an inbuilt solution for that.
The cons can go on and on depending on what you think is missing. But remember, each software on this list has pros and cons, too.
With that said, let’s get right into the list of alternatives you can consider.
Best Passion.io Alternatives
#1 Mighty Networks
You can’t go wrong with Mighty Networks if you are looking for a better platform in terms of features.
Mighty Networks not only replaces Passion.io, but also sets the standard for what is expected from other community platforms. It also serves as a course hosting platform.
Its user interface is simple and equipped with features to help you create a healthy community.
Mighty Networks can set up a website for you using your domain name. It allows you to live stream videos, create engaging content, etc.
It also has a Pro version that offers a custom-branded app for creators. Compared to Passionapp, you need to contact them to get a quote.
And this is what I find terrifying about Mighty Networks – the price.
While it excels in almost all features, it is expensive, especially if you need the custom mobile app – which comes easy-handed on Passionapp.
Who is it for?
Mighty Networks is used mainly by creators of all kinds, including Youtubers. They have a lot of success stories to share.
From the set of features and the category of people using it – you will love Mighty Networks if you run or want to host a community.
The Key Features
- Livestreaming – you can host live streams on Mighty Networks
- DMs and Chats
- Events and Courses – you can do this inside your community
- Several payment pricing options for you to charge as a creator
How much does it cost?
Mighty Networks has two pricing plans and one custom plan. The community plan costs $33 per month while the Business Plan costs $99 per month.
You don’t get access to a custom mobile app on these two plans – you need the custom plan (Mighty Pro) to get your branded app.
Just like you must have guessed, there is no price tag on this, depends on your custom needs.
Cons
- The branded app solution is limited to its custom plan – so you will not get an app even on the Business plan.

#2 Gurucan
Gurucan is an online course platform for creators, and it comes with a mobile app. While Gurucan isn’t a community platform, it does have some similarities with Mighty Networks and Passion.io.
With the Gurucan app, students can go through your course from their mobile devices.
The app comes with push notifications and chats to engage your students.
If you want a custom-branded app for your course, you must reach out to the team – this comes at a steep price.
Who is it for?
Gurucan is for creators who want to create their own courses and branded mobile apps for students.
The Key Features
- In-built webinar recording app
- Push notification
- Email automation
- White label mobile app
How much does it cost?
Gurucan starts at $99/month for the Expert plan and $149/month for the Pro plan.
Cons
- It lacks some community features
- Its higher plans are expensive
#3 Podia
Podia is an all-in-one course platform for creators. It includes some amazing features like advanced email automation. In other words, you don’t need third-party email software to manage your list.
What is more interesting is that it offers community-building features for creators with communities.
In the community, members can comment, like, and also post.
However, Podia doesn’t offer a white-label mobile app for your brand. So if the mobile app is your deciding feature, you might want to look elsewhere.
But besides the absence of the app feature, Podia is a great platform for creators.
Who is it for?
It is mostly for creators and coaches in general with a focus on digital product creators – courses, eBooks, newsletters, etc.
- Online courses
- Digital downloads
- Community
- Webinars
- Coaching
The Key Features
- Drip-courses and pre-selling courses
- Upsells
- Affiliate management platform
- Webinar hosting with the help of Zoom and Youtube live integration
- Email automation
How much does it cost?
Podia offers a flexible pricing plan affordable to all categories of creators. To start with, there is a free plan which you can try out to see if it fits your needs.
If it does, you can then move to any of the three paid plans – Mover, Shaker, and Earthquaker.
The three plans cost $33/month, $75/month, and $166/month respectively.
Cons
- Podia does not have a mobile app functionality
#4 Shoutem
Shoutem is a no-code app builder that comes with app templates to help you create your app on their platform.
You can customize any of the app templates to fit your needs. However, it is worth mentioning that the templates are just a few, eleven at the moment.
If your goal is to create a membership community app, you can make use of the Shoutem social networking app template.
There is no specific template for an online course, but you can modify any of the available templates to fit your demands.
Similar to Passion.io, Shoutem apps allow push notifications, in-app purchases, chat, and analytics.
In addition to that, it also allows scheduled push, segmented push, Shopify integration, and even streaming Radio.
Who is it for?
Shoutem is for creators and entrepreneurs who want to create an app for their businesses. It is not restricted to coaches and course creators but is also a fit for eCommerce business owners that want to create an app for their store. Shoutem makes it easy to integrate your app with your eCommerce store.
Also, if you run a mobile app agency, Shoutem sells a white-labeling service that allows you to resell their services to your clients.
The Key Features
- Unlimited apps – you can create as many apps as you want
- It offers a white-labeling feature – so as an agency and mobile app developer, you can take advantage of this program.
- Shoutem assists you with publishing your apps on the Google play store and Apple store
- It comes with Shopify integration for eCommerce store owners.
How much does it cost?
Shoutem has three pricing packages which can be a little overwhelming to understand.
- Builder platform
- Shoutem PRO
- Reseller
Each of these packages is further split into other plans. But the popular plan package is the Builder Platform, which starts at $59/month for the annual plan.
Cons
- Lack of marketing features like upsells
- Limited features on the lower plans
#5 Appy Pie
Appy Pie is often compared with Shoutem because it is also a no-code app development software.
However, it is more geared toward enterprises and large companies. It is also not just an app builder but also a website builder, live chat builder, and chatbot builder.
It comes with some premium features that allow you to build a variety of apps including a fitness app, eCommerce app, learning app, etc.
The only downside is that you can only access these premium features on the higher plans.
Who is it for?
Appy Pie is for anyone looking to create an app for their business, whether an eCommerce app or an event app.
One cool feature is that Appy Pie is integrated with several apps, including Shopify, which increases its functionality.
The Key Features
- Wide integrations of over 450+ apps
- All-in-one builder (app, website, livechat, and chatbot)
- Push notifications
- You can white-label their service.
How much does it cost?
Appy Pie’s app builder has four pricing plans which are:
- Basic – costs $16/app/month
- Gold – costs $36/app/month
- Platinum – costs $60/app/month
- Enterprise
Cons
- They charge you by app, so there is a limit on the number of apps you can create. If you need a second app, you will need to pay for it. In other words, it is quite expensive in the long run.
- Only the platinum plan allows you to create iPhone apps
- Also, there is a limit on the number of app downloads you can have per month. Even though the majority of apps will not get up to 2000 monthly downloads, it is still a catch for those who surpass that number.
#6 Kajabi
Kajabi is a different type of app on the list. It is not an app builder but a course hosting platform.
It allows you to create, host, and sell different kinds of digital products easily on the internet with awesome tools to help you.
Why compare it with Passion.io?
Well, that is because most Passion.io users are course creators and coaches, and will also benefit from a platform like Kajabi.
Without shades, Kajabi is an awesome platform just like Podia, but if anything, it is not a fit for those who want to own their app.
I mean, Kajabi has a mobile app from which your student can access your course. Any Kajabi course can be viewed on that same mobile app.
In other words, you do not own the app, it is Kajabi’s property.
But if you are not looking to own the app and just want a platform to host your courses and coaching programs, then you are good to go.
And if that is the case, I’d recommend you try out Podia instead of Kajabi because of its simplicity and moderate pricing.
Who is it for?
Kajabi is for creators and entrepreneurs looking to create and sell digital online products.
The Key Features
- Funnel builders
- Email automation software
- Landing page builder
- Affiliate management system
- All-in-one marketing tool
How much does it cost?
Kajabi’s basic plan starts at $119/month. The growth plan costs $159/month, and the Pro costs $319/month.
It is not the cheapest software on the list but also one of the best.
Cons
- It is expensive
- It does not offer a white-label app builder
- You can build niche apps with it, so you can only rely on their mobile app to deliver your content.

Now, let’s wrap up. If you want to build a paid community for your program, then Mighty Networks is a better choice.
If your goal is to launch different products, from the online course to community and one-on-one coaching; I recommend Podia.
Podia helps you save costs by buying additional tools like email automation software. With Podia, you get an inbuilt automation software, membership software, landing page builder, etc.
Overall, Podia is the best alternative if you care more about selling various digital products and are less concerned about building an app.
If owning an app is your priority, then the best alternative is Shoutem.
Many of these software have a free trial, so do not waste time deciding which to go for. You can take advantage of the free trial to see if they fit you.
