Steps to Follow are:
Step 1: Do your Thorough Research
When it comes to doing a thorough research, there are various you can go about it. I tag the procedure of carrying out your research as SCFLR.
• Seek Help From School Counsellors
• Contact the Ministry of Education and Foreign Affairs in your Country
• Family and Friends
• Library and Book Stores
• Research Online

When doing your research, there are some things you must put into consideration. Some of which are:
- Search for scholarships based on your course of study and degree to be acquired
- Search for scholarships that align with your qualifications
- Search for scholarships streamlined to your country
Seek Help from School Counsellors
Do not be scared to seek help form your school counsellors on latest scholarships/grants updates. Most School Counsellors are always informed about latest scholarships/grants available to students. So, seeking help from your school can help you in the long run in securing a scholarship.
If your school has a career centre, you would be better of visiting the career centre to seek help. But if your school does not have you can to the first one by making enquiries from your school counsellors.
2. Contact the Ministry of Education and Foreign Affairs in your Country
This is a very important and easy way to obtain less competitive scholarships to study overseas. Each country has affiliation with different countries which also help the citizens of the country to obtain help and scholarships to study in top universities overseas. You can visit the ministry of foreign affairs to know if there are any foreign scholarships available to citizens of the country to apply to. A typical example is students from countries belonging to Commonwealth of Nations are entitled to some scholarships.
Figuring scholarships meant for citizens in your country only increases your chances of securing a scholarship to study abroad.
3. Family and Friends
Do not undermine the part your friends and family can play in your research. Information is very important in obtaining a scholarship. If it warrants to seek help from friends and families who know about it, go ahead.
4. Libraries and Books
When it comes to research, what registers is going to the library and reading books, right?
Yes, you are right. Doing your research, do not neglect library and books as a source of information.
After exhausting all scholarships, try out libraries and books to get as many scholarships as possible.

There are varieties of sites where you can carry out your research and do more findings. The world is going digital, there is various quality websites that you make use of to carry out your research some of which are:

Step Two: Applying to Scholarships: the Process of Submitting your Application
After doing your thorough research, the next step is to submit your application to those Scholarships that made it to your list.
To submit your application, some scholarships warrant that you should have submitted your application to the University before applying for the scholarship. While some require that you should have gained admission before applying to the Scholarship. It all depends on the type of scholarship, Universities you are applying to.
But all this being settled, you have to now put your effort into
1. Getting your Recommendation/Reference Letter
2. Writing an Essay
3. Preparing for Necessary Examinations

Getting your Recommendation Letter
Walk up to your teacher and politely seek help with a recommendation letter- this seems to be a very difficult for some students to do. You do not have to be scared, your teacher, adults would be glad to help you with it. In the cause of them writing the recommendation letter, it would be better to give them some hints on what is required by the Scholarship, School.
Your recommendation letter can also be written by your Pastor, but it depends on the type of Scholarship.
But, it is better to have your teacher do this for you.
Writing an Excellent College Application Essay
This part gives some fever, as they are not even sure about how to go about it. In order to write an excellent essay, you have to think about the box. The application essay goes a long as it speaks for you.
I will teach you to be Rich, said that in writing a wonderful essay, you must first find out what others are writing and then write something completely different.

This is the time to make an outstanding impression to the examiner. When preparing for necessary examinations such as SAT, TOEFL, ensure you prepare well and make study previously asked questions.
What Next? Processing your Student Visa
This depends on the country you have been given scholarship to study. The procedure of getting your student Visa differs depending on the country.
As for U.S, getting your student may take time but it’s a very easy procedure. For about hundreds of thousands of students are able to meet the requirement for a visa every year.
The procedure is given below for U.S student visa.
• First, your school or University will send you a form confirming that you have been accepted into an Institution authorised by U.S. Citizenship and Naturalisation Service (USCIS)
• You will need to make an appointment for a visa interview and to pay some required fees.
• The United States is using a new non-immigrant visa application form, DS-160 that should be completed online. Link to the form can be found at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/
• Prepare for your visa interview.
Note: It is very crucial that you apply for your visa well in advance of the date your studies begin, if possible apply 3 months before your plan to travel to the USA.
Processing a Canadian Student Permit
To process a Canadian student permit, necessary documents are needed to be submitted to Canadian Visa Application Centre (CVAC) in their temporary resident categories in your home country. The necessary documents which students will need to provide for their application are:
1. Proof of Acceptance
2. Proof of Identity
3. Proof of Financial Support
4. Letter of Explanation
If the country you have been given is not one the two listed, you go the embassy of Country in yor home country and make enquiries on how to go about it.

Getting a scholarship is a very simple thing to secure if you know your way about it. Put in mind that applying to less competitive scholarships increases your chances of securing a scholarship. Apply to scholarships with requirements that align with your qualification.
